Patsy Rizza

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patsy Rizza (80 years old), who left this world on December 29, 2025. He was born in Sicily, Italy, to Gaetano and Carmelina Rizza. Little Pasquale emigrated to the US on the Andrea Doria, January 1956 at the age of 10. He is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Joan (Caron) Rizza, his sons Thomas & Kathleen Rizza, and Mario & Alyson Pietraroia, his grandchildren Dominic and Tony Pietraroia, along with Matthew and Olivia Rizza. He also leaves his brother-in-law Norman and Renee Caron, his cousin, Concetto Miccuilla, Biagio (Bill) Discenza, who Pat thought of as a brother, our special friends Johnny and Nancy Martinez and Jay, Kim, Andrew and Gaby Franza as family members, also our Friday coffee group at the Senior Center He proudly served in the Marines1965 to 1968 after which he joined the Hartford Fire Dept, where he served as a firefighter for an impressive 32 years. His colleagues became his second family, and he treasured the bonds formed through years of camaraderie and shared experiences. He was a member of the Veteran Firemen's Assoc, Hartford Firefighter Retirees, Hartford Fire Benevolent Society, Hartford Fire Protective Association. Patsy faced his health challenges with courage and grace for over 13 years, ultimately succumbing to kidney failure. His family is profoundly grateful to the caring staff at Davita Dialysis Center in Middletown and the support from Hospice. The wake will be at Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road, Wethersfield, Thursday January 8 from 2-5PM and funeral service will be held Friday January 9, 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth Seton Church of St. Josephine Bahkita Parish, 280 Brook Street, Rocky Hill. Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life and the impact he had on so many.
