Patsy Wornom Rutherford

Patsy Wornom Rutherford of Norfolk, beloved momma and Mer passed away in the early hours of Wednesday August 06, 2025 following a short illness. She was born in Hampton, VA on September 21, 1941, to the late Herbert Taylor Saunders and Georgia Blanche Edwards.
Patsy was preceded by the love of her life, her husband of 40 years, William Fain Rutherford. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Susan Marie Robinson (Randy) of Richmond, VA, her step-daughter, Lisa Rutherford Berndt of Oakland, CA, and two grandsons, who brought her the greatest joy, Taylor Randolph Robinson (Emily Faraone) of Salt Lake City, UT, and Henry Harrison Robinson of Richmond, VA. She also leaves many additional family members and a plethora of friends who will deeply miss her.
Patsy's main focus in life was being the best wife, momma, and Mer that she could be, and despite giving 100% of herself to those endeavors, she still managed to pursue a civilian career at Langley Air Force Base as a management analyst for over 30 years. After retirement, she demonstrated unending generosity by volunteering with several non-profit organizations.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 22, 2025, at the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments on 1501 Colonial Avenue in Norfolk. The family will receive visitors from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia.
The family deeply appreciates the compassionate care provided by Henrico Doctors Hospital (Medcare Unit), Suncrest Hospice, and Patsy's caregivers at Sunrise Villa Tuckahoe.
