Patsy Forsee Smith, 82, of Bardstown, passed away Sunday April 27, 2025 at U of L Jewish Hospital in Louisville. She was born October 10, 1942 in Hodgenville, a registered nurse for Nelson County Vocational School, and registered nurse for Hospice of Nelson County, where she retired. She was president of her nursing school class of 1964, a founding member of Hospice of Nelson County and part owner of Smith Brothers Distributing.
She loved watching and caring for her grandchildren, was an excellent cook, enjoyed gardening, canning and watching birds. She was a regular blood donor for the American Red Cross, loved her pets, and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. "Willie" Smith; grandson, Michael Jay Bradley Smith; parents, Dr. Tyre Guy and Irene Forsee; two sisters, Peggy Dones, and Jeannie Diaz; and three brothers, Terry Forsee, David Forsee, and Johnny Forsee.
She is survived by her five daughters, Helen (Mike) Filiatreau of Cox's Creek, Rebekah "Becky" (Jordan Moore) Smith of Mooresville, Rachel (Ken) Briney of Bloomfield, Challon (James Newton) Smith of Bardstown, and Suzanne (Michael) Spalding of Cox's Creek; son, Jay (Angela) Smith of Bardstown; twelve grandchildren, Brooke Smith (Caleb) Burns, Robert Smith, Matthew (Cheyenne) Smith, Grace (Kevin Kagel) Filiatreau, Meg (James Rucker) Filiatreau, Patricia Briney, Paul Briney, Mary Ella Smith, Willie Smith, Savannah Spalding, Katie Ann Spalding, and Maddisyn Moore; three great-grandchildren, Desmin Smith, Lydia Smith, and Emma Smith; brother, Michael Forsee; sister, Kathy Jordan; and several nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Mass will be 11:00 am Monday May 5, 2025 at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Rev. Jacob Zulu will officiate. Visitation will be 12 - 5 pm Sunday May 4 and 9 - 10:15 am Monday May 5 at Barlow Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held Sunday afternoon.
Memorial contributions may go to WHAS Crusade for Children or Tranquility Recovery.
Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was a wonderful teacher. I enjoyed her classes at the vocation school I remember the fun and laughter we all shared. I so sorry for the families loss. She was one of a kind.

Patsy was an excellent teacher. She taught me in vocational nursing program back in 1979-1981
