Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. The family of Patsy Louise (Whitehurst) Smith announces her passing on Tuesday, December 16th, 2025. Patsy passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family. She joins her husband, Nathan Smith, and her mother and father, Louise and Clarence Whitehurst in eternal glory. Patsy is survived by her sister, Judy Leatherwood, her three children, Brent Smith, Chad Smith, and Paige Callaway, and leaves behind twenty grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Patsy was a Troy University alumnus and a founding sister of the Alpha Delta Pi chapter on campus. She was an educator and mentor, retiring from the State of Alabama after teaching arithmetic and social studies in multiple schools and grade levels for 26 years; she also served on the state textbook selection committee. Patsy had a deep love for Christmas and the Christmas season. She enjoyed antiquing, gardening, and spoiling her grandchildren at every opportunity. Patsy was a kind and generous person; she knew and loved Jesus with her whole heart, and she taught her children to do the same.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, December 23rd at 2:00PM from the Chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with family visitation beginning at 12:00 noon, followed by public visitation at 1:00PM. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
