Patsy Kelly Smith, 89, of Monroe, NC passed away on January 12, 2026. She was born in Giles County, VA on July 18, 1936, daughter to the late Howard Kelly and Ethel Clements (Kelly). She is also preceded in death by her husband Marion Otis Smith and a sister Ada Branscon.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday, January 15, 2026, in the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30PM until 1:45PM in the sanctuary of Shiloh Baptist Church, 2301 N Rocky River Rd, Monroe, NC 28110.
Patsy shared her beautiful voice with her church choir and Queen Charlotte Sweet Adelines. She enjoyed raising her boys and supporting them in sports, scouts, and retired at Alltel. She met her husband of 58 years in a bowling alley in Newport News VA. Patsy and Otis enjoyed cheering on their son David, as standout distance runner at Sun Valley High School and later Division 1 Virginia Tech - Track and Field.
Patsy is survived by three sons, Michael Smith and wife Marge, Steven Smith and wife Heather, David Allan Smith, three grandchildren, Emma Sloan Smith, William Sloan Smith and Emily Cord (Luke), and great grandchild Casper West Cord, and a brother Dan Kelly.
