Patsy Sue Smith

Patsy Sue Smith, 72, of Campbells Creek, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at home surrounded by loved ones following a long illness. Patsy was born in Charleston on March 6, 1941, to the late Earl and Grace Newman. She was a 1958 graduate of DuPont High School. She formerly worked at the Trivillians Pharmacy for 21 years and also worked at the Perdue's IGA on Campbells Creek. She attended the Big Bottom Missionary Baptist Church. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Gladys Atkins, Dorothy Nutter and Marie Bowles. She is survived by her husband, Bobby Smith; adopted daughter, Sherry Dye; brother, Herman Newman of Malden, Ray Newman of Belle, and David Newman of Tennessee; sisters, Louise Gray of Cowen, Betty Ray of Ohio, Nancy Norman of Florida, Linda Cole of Ohio, and Doris Heater of Charleston; and many special nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held 6:00 p.m. Saturday, October 19, 2013, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden with the Rev. Ira Keller officiating. The family would like to thank Mark Withrow and the staff of Hospice Care for their loving care given to Patsy. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be given to Hospice Care.
