Maureen Piwnicki Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Central Chapel Funeral & Cremation Southwest on Dec. 30, 2025.
Maureen Piwnicki (nee Sabo), 78, lifelong resident of Chicago's south side, Garfield Ridge neighborhood, a beloved presence in the lives of all who knew her, passed away December 27, 2025 at the age of 78. Devoted wife of Raymond Piwnicki; loving mother of Raymond (Gina) Piwnicki, late Jeffery (Rita Piwnicki-Caccavallo) Piwnicki; Michael (Jennifer) Piwnicki; cherished grandmother of Ella and Raymond; also survived by her beloved dog Bosco and numerous dear friends. The family would like to extend a very heartfelt Thank-You to Maureen's caretakers, Tari and Lisa for their outstanding care and support they provided for Maureen.
She was preceded in death by her parents George and Rita Sabo and sister Margaret.
Maureen dedicated over 30 years of her life to a professional career as a psychiatric nurse, where her compassion and expertise touched countless lives. Her commitment to mental health care was a defining part of her identity and legacy.
She lived her life with a rare blend of strength, love and compassion. She loved sewing, drawing, and painting, which reflected her creative spirit. She enjoyed spending time at her lake house, whether fishing off the dock, watching the sunset on the porch, chatting with the neighbors, or taking occasional rides in the pontoon boat.
Maureen cherished her loved ones deeply and took pride in the connections she nurtured throughout her life. Most of all, Maureen devoted her time to her family, especially her grandchildren. She absolutely adored them and valued all the time she spent with them.
Cremation has taken place in accordance with her wishes.
