Mr. Charlie Denver Richardson, better known as C.D., age 93 of Sparta passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 22, 2023 at his residence.
C.D. was born April 30, 1930 in Livingston, Tennessee to the late William Peter and Martha Maude Sells Richardson. He was a longtime sawmill and pallet mill owner. He was an outdoorsmen whether he was farming, hunting or fishing. On weekends, he could be found at every auction in the Upper Cumberland, often being the first bidder. His favorite time was spent with his family and his Pa D fishfrys. C.D. was a member of Oak Grove Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife of nearly 65 years, Louise Mullins Richardson who died January 21, 2016; son Charles Edward "Chuck" Richardson who died May 24, 2017; and eight siblings.
Surviving family members include his daughter Faye Holman and husband Mike of Sparta
Son: Billy Joe Richardson and Vickie Harding of Sparta
Grandchildren: Charlie Holman, Jimmy (Kellye) Holman, Sherry Young, Ashlee (Kyle) Herren and Lindsey (Wade) Phillips
Nine great grandchildren: Bruce (Brittney) Young, Brandon (Marina) Young, Alex Holman, Gabi Holman & Brian Gentry, William Holman, Logan Holman, Lucas Holman, Lily Herren, Natalee Herren and Aubree Herren
Six great-great grandchildren: Paislee, Harper, Wyatt, Raelynn and Adalyn Young, John Hall
Brother: Dexter Richardson and wife Opal of Missouri
A host of nieces and nephews also survive
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00pm Sunday from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Peeled Chestnut Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-7:00pm Saturday at Hunter Funeral Home. Ronnie Taylor will officiate.
Bruce Young, Brandon Young, Logan Holman, Alex Holman, Charlie Holman, Jimmy Holman and William Holman will serve the family as pallbearers.
