Patsy "Pat" Stewart

Patsy "Pat" Stewart, of Oskaloosa, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at the MHP Serenity Hospice House in Oskaloosa. She was born on January 26, 1949, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth and Helen (Lorenz) Cowman. She attended Fremont High School and graduated with the Class of 1967. On November 6, 1970, she was united in marriage to Larry Stewart at the Methodist Church in Oskaloosa. To this union, a son was born, Eric. They shared 52 years of marriage together until Larry's passing in October 2023.
Pat was an insurance agent for 40 years for several different insurance agencies. Lastly, she worked for Stafford Insurance for 32 years until retiring in 2008. She was a member of Gamma Delta Sorority and the American Legion. She enjoyed reading, sewing, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes football and basketball games and WWE Wrestling on T.V. Pat was also a very social person who enjoyed being around, interacting and befriending the people around her, especially during her stay at The Cottages in Pella.
She is survived by her son, Eric (Teresa) Stewart of Oskaloosa, granddaughters, Isabella and Amarah Stewart; her brother, Danny (Deb) Cowman of Parnell and her aunt, Betty Handy of Oskaloosa.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Stewart; her parents, Kenneth and Helen Cowman; her brothers, Jeff and Jerry Cowman, a sister, Sandra Banks; a sister-in-infancy, Joyce; a brother-in-law, Cecil Banks and a sister-in-law, Mary Cowman.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with pastor Brad Westercamp officiating. Burial will follow services at Highland Cemetery in Eddyville. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 18, 2024, at the Bates Funeral Chapel beginning at 10:00 a.m. with Pat's family present to greet relatives and guests from 5-7 p.m. Memorials may be made to MHP Serenity Hospice House.
