Patsy Swanson, 90, of New Bedford and Sterling, Illinois passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, at Allure of Sterling. Born on May 31,1935 in rural New Bedford, Patsy was the daughter of the late Frank (Pete) and Ruby Swanson.
Patsy loved being with her friends and family. She worked for many years at Sterling Federal Bank and was a long-time member of Royal Neighbors of America. Patsy was a life-long member of the First Christian Church of New Bedford and then later in life transferred her membership to the First Christian Church of Sterling.
Patsy is survived by her nieces Jill Swanson, Jo Ellen (Doug) Vandersee, Andra (Jeff) Adams and Alisa (Tod) Altenburg, 9 great nieces and nephews, 3 great-great nieces and nephews as well as many cousins and friends.
Patsy was preceded in death by her loving parents Frank (Pete) & Ruby Swanson and her brother Ned (JoAnn) Swanson, along with numerous aunts and uncles.
The family extends their gratitude to the caring and compassionate staff at Allure of Sterling, Heritage Woods of Sterling and VITAS Hospice for the care they provided to Patsy.
Per Patsy’s wishes , there will be no services and cremation rites have been entrusted to Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation.
A memorial has been established to Vitas Hospice Community Connection and Royal Neighbors of America. Memorials may be sent to Schilling Funeral Home at P.O. Box 592 Sterling, IL 61081 and will be forwarded on to the family for donation.
