Patsy Ruth Thompson

Mrs. Patsy Ruth Purtell Thompson, age 94, a resident of Horatio, Arkansas, died Sunday, August 10, 2025.

She was born February 22, 1931, in De Queen, Arkansas. She was a homemaker, farmer, a member of the Eastern Star, Good Sams Club, and the Horatio Methodist Church. Her two biggest interests were family and church. With her husband, they were gatekeepers at Lake Ouachita, and she was the best fisherman in the family.

Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Brown Thompson; her parents, Madison Custer Purtell and Nora Ethel McConnell; one daughter, Penelope Ann Jones, and granddaughter, Britteny Jones.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Madison Edward and Maria Thompson; grandson, Richard Thompson, and great grandson, Xander Brooks Thompson, all of Horatio; two nieces, Mary Ethel McCullum and Elizabeth Cunningham; and one nephew, Leroy Nunn, as well as other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Thompson will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the Horatio Methodist Church, with Brad Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Horatio Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen.
