Patsy Thompson Woodard Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wilkerson Funeral Home and Crematory - Greenville on Dec. 5, 2025.
Patsy Greta Thompson Woodard, (88), went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.
Funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at 2PM, in First Free Will Baptist Church in Greenville. Entombment will follow the service in Pinewood Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Patsy was born in Johnston County to the late Quilla Thompson Swanson. She was raised by her Aunt Lora Thompson Peedin and Uncle Nathan Peedin, the people who loved her like their own and gave her three sisters and a brother.
Patsy is survived by her husband of 67 years and the love of her life Billy P. Woodard, Sr. Both Billy and Patsy were from Johnston County and moved to Greenville after their marriage.
Patsy received her L.P.N nursing degree in 1958 at Wayne County Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro, NC. After moving to Greenville, she went to work at Medical Arts Clinic and then to Greenville OBGYN/Physicians East, where she retired in 1998 after 40 years of service.
She always served her Lord and Savior. She continued to watch services from her hometown church, Stevens Chapel Baptist Church in Smithfield and was a member of Arlington Boulevard Baptist Church for over 50 years until their closing. At Arlington she taught Sunday school, worked with all the children's programs, and served on numerous committees. She was a proud member of the Gideons Auxiliary Greenville South Camp and she volunteered with Baptist Men Hurricane Relief. She was most recently a member at First Free Will Baptist Church of Greenville.
Patsy enjoyed spending time with her family the most. She was a wonderful and loving wife and was a cherished mother, sister, grandma, and aunt. She was compassionate, had a heart of gold, and always put others first. She was willing to help others and always had time to listen to their stories. Her time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was her biggest joy. She loved Christmas, enjoyed camping and traveling to the 48 contiguous United States with her husband, Billy. She found joy in cooking, baking, canning, and crafting. Patsy was known for her juicy fried chicken, baked goodies, and jams that she shared with many. She was gifted with such a loving, caring and giving nature. She was cherished by her family, friends and patients.
In addition to her husband, Billy, Sr., Patsy is survived by her son Billy P. Woodard, Jr. and his wife Amy (of Georgia); daughter Lori Woodard Martinez and her husband Linus (of Greenville); her grandchildren Tyler Woodard and wife Brooke (of Georgia); Summer Martinez Edwards and husband Joe (of Greenville); Thomas Martinez (of Greenville); and Hunter Woodard and wife Regan (of Georgia); and great-grandchildren Cooper and Camden Woodard (of Georgia); She is also survived by her brother Wayne Peedin (Gale), sisters Rose Peedin Godley (Al) and Bonnie Peedin Hainey (Richard), and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her aunt and uncle, Lora and Nathan Peedin, mother, Quilla Swanson, and sister Novene Peedin Phillips.
We would like to thank her care team from 3HC all the nurses, especially Katherine and special care partner Sophia. She had an excellent team of doctors, Dr. Brooke Bear, Dr. Johnathan Taylor and Dr. Adam Clark, they all provided care that kept her with her family and friends for many years.
