Patsy Vaughn Obituary

Patsy Lou Vaughn
November 11, 1939 - November 11, 2024
Patsy Lou Vaughn left this earth peacefully on her birthday, November 11, 2024 at the age of 85 surrounded by her loving family. Patsy was born on November 11, 1939 in Fort Worth, Texas.
She was the oldest child of Anne L. Comparin and Ozzy Mclarty. Patsy spent her first years in Fort Worth and eventually moved to San Antonio with her mother Anne where she would live the
remainder of her life.
Patsy graduated from Edison High School in 1956 and met the love of her life, William (Bill) F. Vaughn, at the age of 15 and they married 3 years later in San Antonio in 1956. A love story unlike any other, "Pat and Bill" is the moniker they took on to the many friends and family who love them; a duo so strong it is hard to imagine one without the other.
Pat and Bill immediately recognized their shared interest in building a close-knit family, and what a family they built! They welcomed their three sons, Billy Jr., Ronnie, and Rusty, and embarked on a lifelong journey dedicated to celebrating and supporting family. Early gatherings grew into large family traditions-fishing trips to Port Aransas where Patsy loved to bring lunch and take care of the boys while they fished; she put together magical Christmas Eve parties, where Patsy ensured Santa( Bill Sr.) always made a special appearance with a gift for each grandchild; and celebrations of special milestones on the patio at La Fogata, where she always had the mariachis on call for an end of dinner serenade. She and Bill loved to entertain their friends and family!
Patsy was never the type to sit still for long. After raising her three children, she accepted a part-time position as a receptionist at the San Antonio Convention & Visitors Bureau in 1975.
Patsy's strong work ethic quickly translated into success in the workplace; during her 26 years with the organization, she received numerous promotions, eventually earning the title Director of Sales. In this role, Patsy traveled throughout Chicago, New York, and even internationally to introduce global clients to convention centers, hotels, and restaurants in the heart of San Antonio, helping cement San Antonio's strong reputation as a top destination for meetings and conventions. She loved her co-workers and she loved San Antonio.
After retiring, Patsy embarked on her most important chapter as the dedicated grandmother and aunt to her many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Patsy understood it "takes a village" and showed up in all areas of their lives as the loving and doting grandmother, always there to encourage and support their success. Her most favorite past time was spending time on the beach in Port Aransas with her granddaughters. Having raised 3 active boys, her granddaughters were the joy of her life in later years.
Patsy is survived by her husband of 68 years, William (Bill) F. Vaughn; their three children, Billy Vaughn Jr.(Susie), Ronnie Vaughn (Lisa), and Rusty Vaughn (Kathy); and her twelve grandchildren who affectionately call her "Ma maw", Gwynn Deaver, Tiffany, Harrison, Alex, and Sydney Vaughn; Kelsey Gomez and Jordan Vaughn; Jason Vaughn, Whitney Gabourel, and Tim, Ben, & Joey Cammer. Patsy is also survived by her sister Carol Goodlett and nephews, Adam and Tyler Goodlett, as well as her fifteen great grandchildren.
Patsy led a remarkable life filled with many achievements, but she was most proud of her family. She had a profound love for those who knew her as "Mamaw" or "Aunt Pat," and loved bragging about their accomplishments whenever given the chance. Her legacy is the large, closeknit family she helped build and her steadfast insistence on doing "your best" at whatever endeavor chosen. Her presence and deep love of her family will never be replaced.
The Vaughn family wishes to thank each family member and friend, for their support and care during Patsy's final days.
A visitation will be held at Mission Park Funeral Home, 3401 Cherry Ridge Dr., on Monday November 18th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. A celebration of life will be held at University Methodist Church, 5084 DeZavala Rd, on Tuesday November 19th at 10:30am, reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to ThriveWell Cancer Foundation as Patsy was a breast cancer survivor.
