Patsy Leatherman Walker

Patsy Walker 1935-2017 Gastonia - Patsy Leatherman Walker, 81 passed away peacefully on June 20, 2017 at her residence with her loving family by her side. Patsy was born in Gaston County, North Carolina on October 18, 1935 to the late Carl and Bertha Griggs Leatherman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Geneva Orren, Betty Jo Hunter, Pat Jenkins and Sara Leatherman. Patsy retired from the Department of Social Services where she worked for over 57 years; she holds the record for the most years of dedicated service worked in Gaston County as well as the State of North Carolina. Patsy was also a recipient of the Order of the Long Leaf Pine award. She was a graduate of Lowell High School and she loved music, playing cards, fishing and bingo with her sisters; But first and foremost she loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 62 years Jerry Lamar Walker; her daughters, Angela Walker Greene and husband Don, Michelle Walker Quinn and husband George; grandchildren, Jonathan Andrew Walker Quinn, Phillip Daniel Quinn and wife Sarah, William Alexander Quinn, Emma Grace Quinn; step grandchildren Jessica and Justin Greene; brothers Bobby, L.G., and Gary Leatherman, sister Celia Waynick The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:30 p.m., Thursday, June 22nd prior to the funeral service at 2:30 p.m., Thursday at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend James Land officiating.
