Patsy Rhea "Pat" Washington, died Thursday, December 29, 2022. She was born in Turkey Creek, Cass County, Texas to Louie Orben Humphrey and Flora Esterlene Hobbs Lyles Humphrey. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Atlanta, Texas where she taught Sunday school for more than fifty years and served for two years on the Budget Committee. She volunteered for several things. She was a retired Certified Public Accountant. She received her fifty year pin at Austin, Texas in 2012. She was the only lady listed that received the pin that year.
Making sour dough bread was her passion. She raised several thousand dollars for the Cancer Relay and the youth at the Church. She always took bread for the breakfast of Grand Representative at Eastern Star Grand Chapter. Her bread was well-known over the State of Texas.
She was active in the Order of the Eastern Star. She was Worthy Matron ten times and served for the Texas Grand Chapter as a member of The Board of Trustees for five years and Grand Representative for the State of Connecticut for two years and served as Deputy Grand Matron. She served on several Committees of Grand Chapter. She was the president of Athenaeum Club twice and served on various committees. She was a decorator and decorated for Eastern Star Grand Chapter one year.
She liked to entertain. She had several Bridal Luncheons, entertained her Sunday school with breakfast and sleepovers. (Seventh & Eighth Graders), several Eastern Star Breakfasts, and her friends. She had Eastern Star Garage Sales several times and enjoyed playing golf and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Delton Ira Washington, and five brothers and three sisters. He brothers were, Melvin Lyle (step-brother), Marvin Edmond Humphrey, Louie Orben Humphrey Jr., John Roy Humphrey, and Robert Eugene Humphrey. Her sisters were Louise Lyles Crofton (step-sister), Pauline Christine Humphrey McBee, and Ressie Jessie Humphrey Nix.
She is survived by her son, Roger Delton Washington and wife Janet of Atlanta, Texas; grandsons, Benjamin Clay Washington of Houston, Texas, Jonathon Biela Washington of Houston, Texas; step-grandsons, Jason Rizer of Dallas, Texas, Justin Rizer of Linden, Texas; great-grandson, Hayes Washington of Houston, Texas; great-granddaughter, Bennett Charlotte "Charli" Washington of Houston,
Texas; sisters-in-law, Joan Humphrey of Atlanta, Texas, Stella Washington of Linden, Texas; mother of her grandchildren, Debbie Biela Washington; several nieces, nephews, nieces-in-law, nephews-in-law, and many friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 1, 2023, from 6 pm to 8 pm at Hanner Funeral Service.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 am, Monday, January 2, 2023, in the Hanner Funeral Chapel, with Bro. Gary Davis and Bro. James Williams officiating.
Interment will be in Linden Cemetery.
