Patty Fraley Brisley (9/4/1944 – 2/16/23)
MAYSVILLE — On February 16, 2023, Patty Fraley Brisley, loving Mother, Sister, Aunt and Grandmother, passed away at age 78 after a valiant six-year battle with breast cancer.
She was born on September 4, 1944, in Maysville, to Virgil and Flossie Fraley. She attended Morehead State University studying Elementary Education given her love of caring for children. On July 16, 1967, she married Dr. Michael Brisley, also from Maysville, and eventually settled there raising two children.
Patty grew up as one of 11 children on a farm in Charleston Bottoms and quickly learned how to care for her younger brothers and sisters and cook from scratch. She was happiest when gathered with her large, extended family for Sunday dinners and holidays. During her life, she worked as an Optometric Assistant to her husband and participated in the Grandparents Program at Mason County Elementary School. She attended Lawrence Creek Christian Church and was a member of St. Patrick's Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. The Maysville Extension Homemakers Club events were also a favorite of hers. Patty was born again through Christ, her savior, at age 60.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Michael Brisley; daughter, Michelle Brisley; parents, Virgil and Flossie Fraley; sister, Levina Fraley; parents-in-law, Dr. Frank and Rosemary Brisley; brothers, Levis and Burl Fraley; and brothers- and sister-in-law, Mary Fraley, Morris Sparks, Jeanie Fraley and Chris McHugh.
Patty is survived by her children, Pamela (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Michael (Corolla, N.C.); grandchildren, Bradley Kirby-Brisley (Charleston, S.C.) and Morgan Corby (Baltimore, Md); brothers, Gerald and D.C.; and sisters, Elveda Innis, Jean Sparks, Maggie Sledd, Debbie Fraley, Betty Fraley and Rita McHugh; and sister-in-law, Mary Pat Prado. She has several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and -nephews as well as cousins.
