Paul Blanton, 73, of Lees Summit, Missouri, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025, after a courageous battle with multiple medical conditions. Born on August 24, 1952, in Cool Springs, North Carolina, Paul was the son of the late Elias and Fannie Charlotte Vickers Blanton.

A proud veteran, Paul served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era.

In 1995, he married the love of his life, Laine Blanton, and together they blended their families into one, sharing a bond that carried them through challenges and celebrations alike. Paul was soft-spoken, thoughtful, and deeply kind-a quiet leader who guided his loved ones with warmth and compassion.

He is survived by his wife, Laine; children Nathan Hartness (Mindy), Paula Blanton, and Jay Blanton; five grandchildren-Destiny, Kayla, Hailey, Justin, and Sebastian-and one great-grandchild, Alora. Paul was preceded in death by his son, Justin Hartness, and siblings Elias "Goli" Blanton, Arma Jean Briscoe, and Janice Blanton. He is also survived by siblings Lois Moore, Fannie Morris, Larry Blanton, Johnny Blanton, Charlean Cash, and Bobby Blanton, and a large extended family who adored him.

Paul delighted in basketball, cheering for KU, and watching Chiefs games with Laine. His love of travel, hiking, and nature fed his spirit. As he often said, "I'm going to live until I don't." Even through illness, he was quick to share his warm smile. While he hikes in heaven now, his family will honor his legacy through love and kindness.
