Paul Boyd Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rupp Funeral Home, Inc. on Mar. 13, 2026.
Paul Scott Boyd

August 19, 1981 - March 11, 2026

It is with a mix of sadness and a chuckle at his antics that we announce the passing of Paul Scott Boyd, who departed this world on March 11, 2026, at the age of 44. Born in Monroe, Michigan, Paul made his final exit just a short distance from where his remarkable journey began, at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.

Paul was a man who was never short of a clever nickname or a competitive spirit. He spent several years honing his skills at HSI, where his colleagues could always count on him for both hard work and a humorous quip.

Paul had a zest for life that was contagious and found joy in playing competitive sports. Whether swinging a bat in softball, where he earned the moniker "Oil Can," or outplaying friends in Ping-Pong, basketball, and golf, he was a force to be reckoned with. His family foosball tournaments often saw him as the "RUG"-runner-up guy-, but he wore the title with pride and good humor.

Known for giving the shirt off his back to anyone in need and for offering an infectious smile to everyone he met, Paul was a friend to all. He possessed an uncanny ability to come up with fitting nicknames for those around him, leaving lasting impressions and countless stories.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William Jaime and Dawn Marie (Hennessey) Boyd, along with his cherished grandparents. His four siblings carry Paul's legacy forward: Jaime (Andrea) Boyd of Simi Valley, California, Sarah Boyd of Moreno Valley, California, Heather Boyd of Kaneohe, Hawaii, and Jennifer Applegate. He also leaves behind his loving girlfriend, Lauren Pfund; eight adored nieces and nephews: Jaylynn, Alexus, Alyce, Amari, Ava, Axel, Leo, and Renn; and his beloved dog, Duke, and cat, Sissy. He will be missed by many loved aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends and family are invited to a memorial gathering to celebrate his life on Sunday, March 15, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Monroe Moose Lodge.

Memorial contributions in Paul's memory are suggested to the family for donation to an organization of their choosing. Paul may have left us too soon, but he left a mark that will not soon be forgotten.
