Paul Breen Obituary

Bells rang out throughout the universe and the heavens as this angel finally got his long-deserved wings. Paul's 8-year journey with dementia ended quietly on July 13, 2024, at Edgewood Vista in Fargo.
Paul never wanted his life's story to be about employment, offices he held or awards he received. He believed all that mattered were the people he loved, the lives he touched and any differences he could make along the way.
Paul lived his life by his favorite Serenity Prayer:
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.
Courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.
He accepted his diagnosis and continued to live his life to the fullest, in spite of the losses he incurred. He continued to teach lessons in acceptance and perseverance with his good-natured smile - - so many lessons for so many people. This is a huge part of his legacy, and a testament to his giving heart.
Per Paul's wishes, a true Celebration of Life will be held at Brewhalla in Fargo on Friday July 26, 2024. Visitation begins at 6:30 and Celebration 7:00-8:00. He will be laid to rest between his parents at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Hillsboro ND.
Surviving Paul's legacy are his wife, Michelle; children, Jared Breen of St. Louis Park, MN and Jenna Breen of Chanhassen, MN; siblings, Patrick (Brenda) Breen of Fargo, ND, Vickie (Lynn) Feist of Pierre, SD, Charles (Meghan) Breen of Hillsboro, ND, Julie (Jon) Larson of Detroit Lakes, MN, Mike (Echo) Breen of Fargo, ND, Casey (Angie) Breen of Otsego, MN, and Katie (Mike) Smith of River Falls, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and SuzAnn Breen.
I lieu of flowers, if you feel moved to make a memorial on Paul's behalf, the family asks you to consider an organization that helped at the beginning of Paul's journey and the group that supported him completely at the end:

I had the privilege of working with Paul at Maintenance Engineering. He was a wonderful person who always had a smile on his face and he made a point to greet everyone. Our sincere condolences to the entire Breen family on Paul's passing. He will be truly missed.
