Paul Domenic Calvo

Paul Domenic Calvo, 70, of Coventry, beloved husband of Patricia (Carrier) Calvo, died unexpectedly on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Manchester Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 20, 1945 in Priolo, Siracusa, Sicily, son of the late Nicolo and Maria (Lantiere) Calvo. Paul came to the U.S. with his family as a young boy and grew up in Hartford. He was a graduate of Buckley High School with the Class of 1964. He served our country with the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. He was married to the love of his life, Patricia in 1968 and together they lived in Manchester and Coventry. Paul and his family have owned and operated Calvo Farms since 1972. Paul was also the owner and operator of Structure Enterprises Inc., a masonry company. He owned, bred and enjoyed horse racing all his life. He was a member of the Italian American Stars in Hartford and played on their soccer team. He was an avid soccer fan, always rooting for A.C. Milan and Barcelona. He even coached his own team. His love of soccer inspired his grandchildren to play, and he never missed a game. He was always willing and ready to kick around the ball. Paul was a kind, caring and devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather who will be deeply missed. Along with his wife of 47 years, Patricia, he leaves his children, Laura Calvo of Coventry, Nicholas Calvo of Manchester, Gianni Calvo and his wife Darcy of Coventry and Noella Calvo and her fiance Matthew Dombrowski of Willington; his siblings, Lena Giuliano and her husband Nick of Niantic, Anthony Calvo and his wife Millie of Hebron, Joseph Calvo and his wife Irene of Columbia and Tina D'Elia and her husband Gaetano of Windham; 8 grandchildren, Kyle, Gianna, Troy, Sofia, Corrado, Dominic, Paul and Mason; a sister-in-law, Linda Harding and her husband Michael of Clayton, CA and his brother-in-law, Thomas Carrier and his wife Angela of Bolton. His family will receive friends on Friday, October 16, 2015, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, October 17, 2015, 10 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield.
