Paul J. Cubellis, age 76 passed away Saturday, August 31, 2013 at the Cleveland Clinic. Paul was born August 18, 1937 to parents Thomas (Bird) and Anna G. (Armond) Cubellis in New Castle, Pa. After graduation from New Castle, Pa High School, Paul entered the United States Navy. He served aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Randolph during the Korean Conflict until he was honorably discharged. In 1966 Paul became one of the first workers hired at the new General Motors plant in Lordstown, Ohio. It did not take long for his fellow workers to realize Paul's vast experience and knowledge in assisting his fellow workers and elected him as A.I.T. Committeeman in 1967. In 1968 he was elected as the chairman of the bargaining committee of U.A.W. local 1112 Lordstown, Ohio serving until 1972. He was one of the top negotiators for the National U.A.W. Paul also served four years as Chairman of the Community Service Committee. Paul served in many capacities for the U.A.W. local 1112 for over 30 years until his retirement in 1996. Paul was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 512, third degree, in New Castle, Pa. Paul loved his community of Austintown and was instrumental in the building of the 911 memorial. He was Co-Chairman of the 911 memorial committee for four years. When not organizing community events or active in politics Paul could be found enjoying a game of golf. He played on the U.A.W. retiree golf league. He loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and Notre Dame football teams. Paul leaves to cherish loving memories his wife Loyce R. (Dunnigan) Cubellis. Sons Tim Cubellis, Dr. Alan (Theresa) Moore, Robert (Chris) Moore and Greg (Venetia) Moore. Brothers in law, Jack Lait and Keith (Paula) Dunnigan, and grandchildren Nolan (Stacie) Cubellis, Rachel (Jeff) Metz, Brett Cubellis, Christopher Moore, Nicholas Moore, Jennifer Moore, Jacob Moore, Mackenzie Moore, Chelsie Rapp, Austin Rapp, Jaclyn Moore and Alyssa Moore. He also leaves three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, and sister, Betty Lait. Calling hours for family and friends will be held on Friday September 6, 2013 from 4pm to 7pm at the Lane Family Funeral Home's Austintown Chapel. Services will be held Saturday September 7, 2013, 10am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Austintown, Ohio.
