Paul John D’Amico, 71, of Johnston, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025.

Born in Salzburg, Austria, on a U.S. military base while his father was serving in the Army, Paul was the beloved son of the late Donald and Jennie (Cicchetti) D’Amico of Johnston.

Paul lived most of his life in Johnston, first attending St. Rocco’s School, where he served faithfully as an altar boy alongside his brother at St. Rocco’s Church. He later graduated from Johnston High School before pursuing studies in broadcast journalism and communications at Graham Junior College in Boston. Paul briefly worked in broadcasting at WJAR Channel 10 and also did work in radio.

Paul’s career path eventually led him to the family business, D’Amico’s Restaurant, a beloved Italian establishment located in the Thornton section of Johnston. There, he worked tirelessly beside his father, developing a lifelong passion for cooking and hospitality.

He carried those skills into a long and dedicated career at Rhode Island Hospital, where he served for over 35 years—first as a cook, and later as catering coordinator. In that role, he catered countless events for Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children’s Hospital. A proud member of Teamsters Local 251, Paul’s passion, work ethic, and grit left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Paul is survived by his three loving children: Jonathan D’Amico, Ashley (D’Amico) Mesiti, and Tessa Pellegrino and her husband, Justin. He was the cherished father-in-law of the late Benjamin A. Mesiti, Esq., and the proud grandfather of Arabella Mesiti and Tyler Pellegrino. He is survived by his devoted younger brother, Donald “Chico” D’Amico. He was also the beloved nephew of the late Carmella Cicchetti, the late Josephine Cicchetti, and the late Anna (Cicchetti) Lepore “Minnie”, all who helped raise he and his brother.
