As children, Paul and I were part of a group of cousins who gathered at the Barksdale and Davenport homes in Jacksonville at least twice a year. We were fortunate to be the children and grandchildren of large and loving families who enjoyed each other's company. We roamed our grandparents' farm, went to afternoon matinees at the downtown theater, set off fireworks on New Year's Eve, played games, went to church on Sundays, wrote plays to perform for our parents, and generally enjoyed each other's company. While we've seen each other less frequently as adults, we share memories. I recall Paul as the movie maker. From the moment his parents purchased an 8mm camera, he used it to film stories. I recall him building a set with tiny toy houses that could be destroyed--with the help of cousins--by equally tiny toy dinosaurs. I treasure my memories Texas holidays and my imaginative cousin Paul.
