Paul was born in Los Angeles, California on November 30, 1937, to Hajime and Miyuki Doi. After spending time in a US detention camp during World War II, the family moved to their ancestral home in Hiroshima, Japan. Paul completed high school in Japan before he and his family returned to the United States in 1955. Paul took classes at Pasadena City College but was drafted by the Army. After he was discharge, he tried various jobs including gardening, restaurant maitre-dee, and operating a cafe. Eventually, choosing to work in the florist business where he excelled at creating beautiful works of art. In the 1970's he met his wife Carrie Hiroko, who predeceased him to heaven in 2009. Paul retired in 2015 and moved to Oxnard, California, to be near his only remaining brother Bob. Along with Carrie, Paul's parents and older brother, William Doi, predeceased him. Paul is survived by his brother Robert K Doi and sister-in-law Linda Doi. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him. May you rest in peace.
