Paul Doyle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory - Brownsville on Dec. 30, 2025.
Mr. Paul Gerald Doyle, 77, of Los Fresnos, TX, passed away peacefully on Christmas morning, 2025, at Brownsville Nursing & Rehab in Brownsville, TX. His last days were filled with love and family, with his wife and all his kids and grandkids at his side.

Paul (Jerry to his brothers and their families) was born November 18, 1948 in Utica, NY to James F. and Margot Gaffney Doyle and was a 1966 graduate of Utica Free Academy in Utica, NY. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Dawne T. Doyle of Los Fresnos, TX; one son, Paul G. Doyle, Jr. of Myrtle Beach, SC, and three daughters, Tamara Harland of Jasper, GA (son-in-law Gary), Sandra Carmola of Los Angeles, CA (son-in-law Anthony), and Kelly Doyle of Fredericksburg, VA; three stepchildren, Troy, Summer and Tisha; one grandson, Nicolas Austin Doyle and two granddaughters, Alexandra Doyle and Kaitlyn Doyle; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers James F. Doyle, Jr of Maine and Daniel Doyle of Raleigh, NC, and a stepdaughter Beth.

Paul worked in sales and in the restaurant industry throughout the South before relocating to Texas. He was a lifelong fan of the Washington Commanders football team, loved playing poker and billiards, never missed a chance to make someone laugh, and was especially fond of his beloved dogs. He was immensely proud of his children, loved his family easily and was deeply loved in return.

In accordance with his wishes, Paul has been cremated and the family held a private remembrance. The space he filled in the lives of those who loved him will be missed beyond measure, but his laugh, lessons and love will live on in all who were lucky enough to call him family or friend. May he rest peacefully.

Jerry was a neighbor of mine. He was 2 years older than me, but we were friends. He was always kind to me. We went to the same grammar school and High School. Lenny Soron
