Paul Egbert Obituary

Dr. Paul S. Egbert

June 14, 1961 - January 11, 2025

Dr. Paul S. Egbert was born on June 14, 1961, in Murray, Utah. He was the eighth of 11 children born to Max and Viola Egbert. In his early years the family lived in South Jordan Utah where he attended South Jordan Elementary but West Jordan is where he developed his love for all things involving horses. He cleaned stalls in the morning before going to school and helped care for the family's 45-stall horse barn where they boarded race horses, show jumping horses, and more. He loved spending time in the arena running the roping chutes for team ropers and calf ropers and helped push cattle back up the alley.

In 1975, the family moved to Paul, Idaho, where he attended and graduated from Minico High School in 1979. His passion for mechanics led him to WyoTech in Laramie, Wyo., where he earned a degree in diesel mechanics. Afterward, Paul moved to Green River, Wyo., and began working in Rock Springs at Smith GM Power as a diesel mechanic.

On October 28, 1983 the Borah Peak earthquake occurred in the Lost River Range. It was on this day that Paul met his forever love, Terry Lynn Hymas in Rupert, Idaho at a church barn dance. Terry always said the earth shook the day she met Paul. All this happened only hours after receiving his mission call to serve an LDS mission. He served faithfully in the Texas, Dallas Mission for 18 months. Upon returning home, Paul and Terry were married for time and all eternity in the Jordan River Temple on June 18, 1986.

Paul pursued higher education at Idaho State University, majoring in biology, and later attended Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, Ore. While in Portland, Paul and Terry welcomed their first daughter, Meghan Elise, followed by their second daughter, Lauren Elizabeth. After graduating, Paul and Terry returned to Twin Falls, Idaho, where Paul established his chiropractic practice and would serve the Magic Valley for 33 years. They later welcomed three more children, Jordan Paul, Logan Garret, and Heather Adrianna. Soon after they moved to Filer, Idaho in 1997, where they built their home and raised their family.

Paul was a devoted father who dedicated countless hours to supporting his children in all their endeavors. Whether cheering them on at basketball or soccer games, attending horse shows, dog shows, being at every rodeo, or cheerleading competition, he was always there. Paul shared his love of the outdoors with his family, enjoying motorcycle rides, teaching them how to shoot and fish, while always being accompanied by a loyal K-9 companion. Above all, his greatest joy came from his grandchildren. He cherished every moment spent with them, sharing laughs and creating lifelong memories.

Paul's impact as a chiropractic doctor and community member was profound. His patients and friends admired him for his skill, friendship, and genuine care. His absence leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of all who knew and loved him.

Paul is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Terry; his children, Meghan, Lauren (Devin) Brewer, Jordan (Savannah), Logan, and Heather (Jayce) Koudelka; and his five grandchildren, Hattie Mae, Harley, Layla, Hanes, and Navy. He is also survived by his eight siblings, Richard (Joyce), Jeanie, Sherry, Debby (Paul VanWagoner), Rhonda (Dan Stites), Dixie, Connie (David Silcock), and Dan (Tammy), along with countless nieces and nephews.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Viola Egbert; his father-in-law, Gail Hymas; brother, DeMar; sister, Renee; and brother-in-law, Don.

Paul's life was a testament to love, hard work, and unwavering dedication to his family and community. His memory will be cherished by all whose lives he touched.

A viewing for Paul will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day-Saints, 840 Midway St. Filer, Idaho 83328 with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m.

We are so sorry for your loss Terry and Family. Funny how often i have thought about you in the last few weeks. We truely have strong ties to you and Paul. Many years of fond memories of the Hymas family also. During the last years we have been able to run into each other for a quick update but suddenly they have disappeared. We even wondered if you may have moved closer to some of your children. We also did not know that Gail had passed. And Carolyn, where is she?
I know you are grieving. Its something in our lives that we dread: losing a spouse, child, parent. And yet we know we must all face it. We pray you will receive comfort from the Lord. We will pray also for your children, and grandchildren. All will feel a big empty space he has filled. Unfortunately we will be out of town Saturday or we would be honored to attend Pauls funeral. If we can get a number, or address we would be happy to come visit with you. We send our love and condolences to all. Jack and Linda Turner

Few things in this world leave me in absolute shock, yet hearing of Paul's passing, did just that. I met Paul through the Chiropractor office, as I needed my medical card renewed. In the midst of conversation, it turned out he knew most of my family & thus we developed a unique friendship. Over the years I sent many of my trucking colleagues to him for their medical cards or back adjustment needs. They all became repeat patients, as did I, and they began to know him as more than just their "back cracker". As time passed, when I would go in for a medical visit, he would routinely ask about others in my family which made me feel like he was an honorary big brother. It was an honor for me to have known him.
My prayers & most sincere condolences goes out to his family during the loss of their patriarch. May you rest in peace Paul Egbert!!
