Paul played at our wedding 25 years ago when he was organist at Nativity Lutheran in St. Anthony Village. On several occasions since then, he would play the postlude he'd played at our wedding. When he commented on it after the service, he'd say, "Oh, I saw you kids here and thought I'd throw that in for you!" An irreverent sense of humor, a sly wit, a warm sensibility and genuine artist. Thanks for everything, Paul.

I sang in the choir at Salem Lutheran Church in Minneapolis where Paul was organist for many years. He would make that organ "sing". He will be sadly missed by all. My sympathy to the family.

He was a church musician’s church musician, an exceptional accompanist, imaginative improviser, and a peach of a fellow, totally capable and totally self-effacing. One of my very first 'off-campus' projects as a recording engineer, early in my time at Minnesota Public Radio up at St. John's in Collegeville, was to record Paul in recital at St. Mark’s Cathedral, Minneapolis, this back in 1970. I’ve listened to that tape again, and it proves everything good (which is to mean, EVERYTHING at all) that people remember about Paul Emch the musician. He was one…without question, and we will miss him.

I will always remember Paul's magic touch on the church organ. He was truly one of a kind; we will not soon see (or hear) his like again.

I sing in the City/County Chorus and Paul was our piano player. He was a nice person and will be missed. You have to be dedicated to consistently come to our rehearsals and play for us as well as be there for our performances. Thank you . Eileen Banks

To the family of Paul,

I worked with Paul at Hennepin County. We lovingly referred to him as "Frumch". He was a joy to be around.

He loved music and whenever I found something unusual I would let him listen to it.

Now he is up in heaven playing for all of the angels.

Frumch-mumchous inc., I will miss you and your since of humor.

Your friend,

Borlee

Paul was a joy to be around. We worked for years together at Hennepin County. His wit and love for his family will long be remembered.
