On Wednesday, November 12, 2025, Paul D. Farkas, of West Frankfort, passed away at St. Louis University Hospital at the age of 77 years.
Paul was born on March 13, 1948 in Herrin, Illinois to Alex and Virgina (Butler) Farkas.
He grew up in West Frankfort on his family's small farm where he developed a life-long love of everything in nature and the outdoors. This led to him being active in the Boy Scouts and achieving the rank of Eagle Scout.
Paul graduated in 1966 from Frankfort Community High School and in 1971 he earned a degree from Southern Illinois University in Engineering Technology. He spent his professional career working in road construction. He was a member of Trinity Global Methodist Church.
One of Paul's greatest pleasures was sharing his love of the outdoors with his sons, especially taking them fishing and on countless hunting expeditions.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Virgina Farkas.
Paul is survived by his sons, John and wife, Alicia Farkas of St. Louis, Missouri and Zachary and his wife, Michelle Farkas, and their children, Cooper and Lillian Farkas of Nolensville, Tennessee. Paul is also survived by one brother, A.J. and his wife, Helen Farkas of West Frankfort.
Services will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort. Interment will be in the Denning Cemetery on the Orient Road. Visitation will be held at the funeral home before the service from 11:00am-1:00 p.m.
