Paul Bryan Goodwin Jr., age 79, of Sparta, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 16. 2025. He was born on October 17, 1946, in Bucyrus, Kansas, to Paul Bryan Goodwin Sr. and Cheriot Edith (Meyer) Goodwin.
Paul married Sharon Kay Nelson on June 25, 1971.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sharon Kay Goodwin; son, Curtis Von Goodwin; sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Pauline Bartlett and her husband, Fred Lynn; brother, William Franklin Goodwin; parents, Paul and Cheriot Goodwin; maternal grandparents, Charles Paul Meyer and Jessie Edith Miller; paternal grandparents, Lloyd Jackson Goodwin and Lavada Ann Davidson Goodwin; Leo and Bertie Nelson; brothers-in-law, Dempsey Wayne Bates, Leo Jr. Nelson, JC Nelson, Jerry Nelson; and several nieces and nephews.
Paul is survived by his son, Christopher Paul Goodwin and wife, Damaris, of Springfield, MO; sisters, Judy Nadine Bates of Wichita, KS, and Edith Lavada Flippo of Highlandville, MO; brothers, Robert Lee Goodwin (Ramona) of Springfield, MO, and Lloyd Yeuell Goodwin of Bruner, MO. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Korbyn Goodwin, Natalie Kay Goodwin, Braxton Williams, Shaun Ross, and Tyler Ross. In addition, Paul leaves behind numerous great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
Paul proudly served his country as a Navy veteran. He worked for and retired from Rock Tenn. He graduated from School of the Ozarks High School in 1964 and remained a proud member of the Veterans and Final Four organizations at College of the Ozarks. Paul was also a devoted member of the Sparta Christian Church in Sparta, MO.
Paul will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his love for family, and his dedication to serving others. His kindness, sense of humor, and generous spirit touched everyone who knew him. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy of love and strength will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Pastor Mark Proctor officiating.
Burial will follow at Harvill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. immediately before the funeral at the funeral home.
