Paul Hackney Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Johnson's Funeral Home - Georgetown on Jun. 10, 2024.
Paul Jerome Hackney, faithful servant of Christ, went to be with the Lord on Sunday June 9, 2024. Paul was a godly man who loved the Lord and his family and set an example for his children, grandchildren, and all that met him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Shelby Jean Southerland Hackney of 46 years, daughter Tammy (Tim) Baker, son Steve (Tabatha) McEldred, grandchildren, Woody (Paige) McEldred, Stone McEldred; Shelby Baker, Bobby Baker, and great-grandson Jon Wood McEldred; brother Danny (Brenda) Hackney, sister-in-law Irene Hackney; and several nieces and nephews.
Paul was born June 9, 1942, in Eubank, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Edna Hackney, sister Joyce (Harold) Miller and John "Buddy" Hackney.
Paul enjoyed farming with his family, especially his brother and best friend, Danny. Paul was a machinist and retired from Link-Belt Cranes in 2004. Paul was a member of the Mount Vernon #3 Masonic Lodge in Georgetown, Kentucky. Paul was a devoted member of the Floyd Switch Baptist Church for over 50 years. Paul was a humble servant and only heaven knows what a wonderful and eternal impact he had on his family and friends. Paul is remembered for many things: husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, devout Southern Baptist, farmer, carpenter, friend, and neighbor. He loved his neighbors Steve Hockensmith, Tyler and Fawn Taylor, Jeff and Carol Graves, Bryan and Kelsey Cohen, John and Denise Howard, Linda Adams, Chuck Burton, and Edna Lucas. He was cared for by his friend, Lynn Young. Faith, family, and friends were the center of his life.
A funeral service will be held 11 AM on Friday, June 14 at Georgetown Nazarene Church in Georgetown, Kentucky. Burial will follow at the Eubank Cemetery in Eubank, Kentucky at 3:30PM. Brother Vola Brown officiating.
Visitation will be held 5-8 PM on Thursday, June 13 at the Georgetown Nazarene Church where he attended with his wife.
Paul's nephews: Tim, Shannon, John, Joel, Kevin, and Adam Hackney will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Elwood Sharron, JuBall & Carol Dawes, Joyce Gabbard, Bud Edwards, Ron Coleman, Page Ray, Jack Carpenter, Bobbie Gray, Don Catchen and Chuck Burton.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Floyd Switch Baptist Church 80 Whiteford Lane, Eubank, KY 42567 or Georgetown Church of the Nazarene 726 Lemons Mill Road, Georgetown, KY 40324.

Paul you were the sweetest man and a cherished friend to me. I so enjoyed our talks about your farm, your brother and Paisley. I hope you knew how much you meant to me.
