Paul Bernard Hatton, Jr. April 25, 1959 – January 19, 2025
Paul Bernard Hatton, Jr., 65, passed away on January 19, 2025, in Houston, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and unforgettable memories. Born on April 25, 1959, in Bermuda to Paul and Betty Hatton, Paul spent his early years in Alabama before putting down roots in the Houston area, where he created a life as vibrant as his personality.
A free spirit with an adventurous soul, Paul found joy in the roar of his Harley, the thrill of dirt bikes, and the challenge of tinkering with classic cars. A skilled mechanic and trucker by trade, he poured his heart into everything he did, from fixing engines to inspiring those around him. Paul had an unshakable love for the open road, bold tattoos, and indulging in his sweet tooth with his favorite candies-Snickers, Twix, Rolos, Butterfinger, and Sour Patch Kids. His favorite travels and meals often ended at Lopez, where he enjoyed good food and even better company.
Paul's big heart matched his bold personality. He was a witty, strong, and unapologetically funny man who wore his humor like a badge of honor. Whether coaching kids or mentoring drivers, Paul was a natural encourager, supportive, generous, and always ready to lift others up. His sharp wit, playful sarcasm, and unwavering humility endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Paul shared a deep and enduring love with his wife, Brenda Hatton, whom he married on August 8, 1994, in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. Their union was a testament to love, filled with laughter, adventure, and countless cherished moments.
He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda; his children: Terie (Stephen), P.J. (Patty), Brandon (Summer), Krystle (Bart), and Renee (Tim); his grandchildren: Blake (Shalyn), Cullen (Arryn), Ryanne, Jeffery (Kristin), Caleb (Ashley), Addison, Austin, Ethan, and Blakely; and his great-grandchildren: Sawyer, Emmett, and Elijah. Paul also leaves behind his siblings, Linda (Paul) and Dan (Stella), and many nieces, nephew, cousins and friends who became family.
The family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate Paul's life on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Schmidt Funeral Home Grand Parkway Chapel, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Chaplain Daniel Schramm. Paul will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers honoring Paul's memory will be grandsons, Blake Poncio, Cullen Cole, Jeffery Hatton, Caleb Cole, and best friends, Bobby Foreman, and Jacob Martinez.
Paul's legacy is one of love, laughter, and encouragement. His larger-than-life presence and generous spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, reminding us to embrace life with courage, humor, and a sweet treat in hand.
