Paul James Heath, aged 71, of Burchard, NE, passed away on April 15, 2025, at CHI Health St. Elizabeth, Lincoln, NE.
Visitation was held on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville, KS, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family was present to receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 21, 2025, at Kinsley Mortuary. Pastor Clayton Lundstedt officiated. The musicians were Jeremy and Suzi Nolte. Music included "Amazing Grace", "Irish Blessing", and "The Cowboy Rides Away."
Burial followed at the Summerfield Cemetery, Summerfield, KS.
The pallbearers were Collin Heath, Mason Heath, Avery Heath, Jared Johnson, Dalton Johnson, Jacob Meybrunn, Levi Meybrunn, Cole Nolte, Caleb Nolte, and Jesse Nolte.
The honorary pallbearers were Felecia Livingston, Kristin Townsend, Mikayla Nolte, Sam Heath, Mikayla Heath, Kyleigh Swoboda, Connor Livingston, Taylor Meybrunn, Branson Townsend, and Dana Meybrunn.
Paul was born on July 5, 1953, in Pawnee City, Nebraska, to J. Algern and Elsie (Murray) Heath. He graduated from Summerfield High School in 1971. He married Ileen Wiebe in Summerfield. Together, they had four children. Paul and Ileen later divorced.
He built a career as the owner and operator of HJP Pest Control, serving communities throughout Southeast Nebraska and Northeast Kansas. In addition to his work in pest control, he was also a dedicated farmer and cattleman.
Paul enjoyed spending his time at tractor pulls and riding horses. He especially loved attending his grandchildren’s events and cheering them on. One of his daily routines was visiting friends at 6 p.m. each evening at Willard’s in Steinauer, NE—a tradition he rarely missed.
Preceding him in death are his parents; daughter, Amanda Johnson; sisters, Charlene Heath and Lisa Heath; sister-in-law, Laverne Heath; and nephews, Brandon Miller and Ryan Miller.
Survivors include his children, Chad (Michelle) Heath, Weeping Water, NE, Cristi (Jon) Meybrunn, Oketo, KS, and Micki (Rod) Nolte, Beattie, KS; son-in-law, Dan Johnson (Jennie Zvolanek), Blue Springs, NE; brother, Lynn Heath, Andover, KS; sister, Elaine (Bernie) Miller, Mission, TX; 13 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary, P.O. Box 147, Marysville, KS 66508.
