Paul Hellickson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Powers Funeral Home - Pocahontas on Sep. 14, 2025.
Paul Steven Hellickson, 72, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Plover, Iowa on September 13, 2025.

Born on April 23, 1953, Paul grew up near Havelock and graduated from Havelock-Plover High School in 1971. He went on to build a life defined by hard work, quiet strength, and a deep love for his family. A skilled welder and dedicated truck driver, Paul worked for several companies in the area, most recently at Pro Cooperative in Rolfe, Iowa. He rarely sat still and never seemed interested in retiring. Paul could fix just about anything and was always tinkering-approaching every project with ingenuity, resourcefulness, and a can-do spirit.

Though quiet and reserved at times, Paul was also known for his sense of humor and for living life a little on the edge. He was fiercely independent and true to himself, with a soft spot for motorcycles, horses, and a good Western movie. He enjoyed motorcycle rides with friends and caring for various horses and colts.

More than anything, Paul was proud of his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his children: Angela (Troy) Larson of Estherville, Iowa, Kristine Weaver (James) of Marion, Indiana, and Matthew (Jennifer) Hellickson of Spirit Lake; his grandchildren: Taylor Fisher, Will, and Owen Larson, Jacob and Josh Hellickson; and great-granddaughter, Taliyah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Dorothy (Williams) Hellickson, and his brothers: Robert Hellickson, Leslie Hellickson, and Stanley Hellickson.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, 502 4th Ave NE, Pocahontas, Iowa. A memorial service will follow on Friday, September 19, at 10:30 a.m., also at Powers Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at Ellington Township Cemetery in Mallard, Iowa.

Paul will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his kind heart, strong work ethic, and the joy he found in the simple things-especially time spent with his family.
