Paul Jacob Herbert "Herbie" was born December 13, 1931 in Fostoria, Ohio to Earl and Carmen Herbert. Paul was the middle child with two sisters Mildred and Nancy. Mildred lives in Florida and Nancy who passed on December 22, 2014 in Ohio. After high school he joined the Navy and spent over four years on active duty during the Korean War. This ended in 1955 when he started college at The Colorado School Of Mines. At the beginning of his senior year he met his future wife Carolyn Long on her first day of Colorado Women's College Where according to Carolyn's roommate Nancy, Paul "cut her out of the herd" at lookout mountain. They were married the day of his graduation May 22, 1959. Paul worked for Global Companies including General Electric and Bechtel, and also Southwest Research. While with Bechtel he worked on the Trans Alaska Pipeline in 1976-1977 as a senior engineer. He also had his own firm for many years as a consulting engineer. These jobs took Paul and his family to many places including Holland, Germany, Washington, Alaska, California and Texas. Paul is survived by his wife of 55 years Carolyn Herbert, his three children Paula Graziani and her husband Anthony of Lafayette CA, Henry Herbert and his wife Pamela from Seattle WA and Keith Herbert from New Braunfels, TX. Paul also has eight grandchildren Marissa, Jordan, Madison, Molly, Matthew, Elias, Rachelle and Michael. Services will be held at The Salvation Army Outpost in New Braunfels Texas on Jan 9, 2015 at 2:00pm. Located at 617 S. Business I-35. Reception will follow at our home 1015 Forest Trail, New Braunfels. Memorial donations may be giving to THE SALVATION ARMY OUTPOST.
