Paul Holderman Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 26, 2025.
Paul William Holderman, age 60, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025, surrounded by family after a courageous 10-week stay in the York Hospital ICU battling complications from pneumonia that led to respiratory arrest.

Born December 31, 1964, in Orrville, Ohio, Paul was the son of Wilma L. Garver and the late Donald E. Holderman. He grew up in Burton City and pursued his education at Rosedale Bible College and Eastern Mennonite College, where he earned a bachelor's degree in math education. It was during his time at Eastern Mennonite College, from 1988 to 1991, that Paul met the love of his life, Tina K. Martin. They were married on May 25, 1991 in Chambersburg, PA, and built a life rooted in faith, service, and family.

Paul and Tina had their first two children while living in Ohio where Paul worked for Holderman Electric before moving to Chambersburg, PA in 1996 to join the Martin family farm. They had their third child while in Chambersburg. From 2003 to 2006, the family served together as missionaries with Eastern Mennonite Missions in Cambodia, a season of life Paul treasured deeply for the relationships built and faith-filled service. After returning to Chambersburg in 2006, he worked as a mechanic at Stouffer Brothers and as maintenance supervisor at Bwise Trailers.

Paul was deeply committed to serving his church and community. He gave generously of his time and talents, serving on the Franklin Mission Board, as a youth group leader, and on the Marion Mennonite Church board. Paul loved using his hands to build and repair, often doing so as a way to bless others. He found great joy in singing on the worship team at church, participating in service trips with the youth and by sharing his gifts in practical ways.

Paul is preceded in death by his father, Donald E. Holderman, his father-in-law, Lester E. Martin, and his stepfather-in-law, Thurman C. Martin. He is survived by his mother, Wilma L. Garver; his devoted wife of 34 years, Tina; three children, Benjamin (wife Rachel) of Camp Hill, PA, Rachel of Harrisonburg, VA, and Jake (wife Julianna) of Harrisburg, PA; three grandchildren, Lucas, Reuben, and Eli; six siblings, Marnell Wagner (husband Rick), Dan (wife Cindy), Scot, Mark (wife Val), Tim, and Andy; and a host of extended family and friends who will miss his steady presence, gentle spirit, and servant's heart.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, October 4 at 1:00 p.m. at Marion Mennonite Church, 4365 Molly Pitcher Highway, Chambersburg, PA 17202, followed by a dessert reception. Feel free to come in casual dress in honor of Paul's love of his blue jeans and cowboy boots. A livestream will be available at https://www.youtube.com/@marionmennonitechurch/streams.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to bring flowers from your own garden or make a memorial contribution in his name to the Franklin Mission Board General Fund at https://franklindistrictoflmc.org/give/.
