I sure enjoyed my friendship with Paul and Lola through AXPOW chapter. He was a brave soldier and good story teller of his experiences in WWII. RIP my friend.

We are saddened to learn of Mr. Hollen's recent passing. My Dad, brother Bob and I were honored and proud to have known such a heroic gentleman of the Greatest American generation through involvement with the LowCountry AX-POW group. He and Ms. Lola were the sweetest, most loving and generous couple and they will be missed by us and many others in a profound way...

I worked next door to his office downtown for about 10 years in the 1980s and early 1990s. What an interesting man. My condolences to his family. RIP

Dudley is the cousin whom I always cherished and respected because of his military service, surviving a POW camp in Germany during WWII, becoming a great husband, father, businessman, and civic leader. He and Lola shared the ultimate in sacrifice and loving hospitality to all. My family and I send our condolences to the extended family. Grace and peace to you.

Dear Paul, Cheryl, Cynthia and family,
I was truly saddened to hear the news about your father passing away. Dudley was a devoted son, faithful husband and loving father and family man. Being the first grandchild on the Schwartz side of the family, he set the standard for the rest of the grandchildren. As cousins, we all looked up to him.
As a war hero, the United States and its citizens are indebted to him for his service to our country and the pain and suffering he endured as a prisoner of war, to ensure that Americans remained free of tyranny.
When he came home from the war and returned to civilian life, he still served his country by becoming a successful business man who supported the economic vitality our country.
Your parents leave an outstanding legacy they lovingly raised four children, who in turn bought into the world 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren who will carry Dudley's and Lola's inspiration, courage, wisdom and love of family to future generations.
We are all better people to have known and loved Lola and Dudley.
Please accept my deepest sympathy at your loss. We truly share your grief. Dudley will be missed by many.
Sincerely,
Vanyla Schwartz Tierney

"Dudley" was the oldest of the 15 SCHWARTZ grandchildren and the hero and inspiration to the 12 Schwartz cousins and his 2 brothers. We shall miss his smiling face, his sharp wit and enjoy all our fond memories of him.
The cousins sent our deepest sympathy and love to the entire Hollen
family.
