Paul Krause Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home and Cremations - Zanesville on Mar. 18, 2026.
Paul D. Krause, 84, of Zanesville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on March 18, 2026, at his residence.

He was born on August 26, 1941, in Zanesville, son of the late Marion and Helen Krause. Paul was a member of the First Christian Church of Zanesville for many years as well as a youth advisor at Sonora United Methodist Church. He was a 1959 graduate of Zanesville High School. Upon graduation, Paul joined the United States Navy. After his tour in the Navy, he joined the Army, where he proudly served his country in the Vietnam War. He met the love of his life when he returned to Zanesville, Sharon Krause- married April 11, 1970.

Paul worked for over 30 years at Grief Brothers, where he retired. In his spare time, you could find Paul at Ritchey's Ball Fields or Riverside, where he coached all his kids. As they got older, he followed them and you could find him on the hill at West M, either working track meets or running the scoreboard for football and basketball. Paul was an avid Michigan Wolverines fan, he enjoyed square dancing, and most recently watching his grandkids and great grandkids play sports.

Paul is survived by his 4 children: Heidi Kirby, Amy (Bryan) Bunting, Crystal Morris, Thaddeus Krause; son-in-law, Lance Kirby; 25 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 2 great great granddaughters; sister-in-law, Wanda Founds; special dog, Zeke; close friends, Delmar Dunlap, Dare Williams, Ron McCutchen, and Joyce Gibbs; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Paul is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Sharon E. Krause; grandson, Scott Lee; great grandson, Korbin Dodson; brothers: Bud and Sonny Krause; mother and father-in-law, Eva Mae and Harry Moore; brothers-in-law, Virgil Founds, Duane Moore, Russell Moore, Robert Moore, Kenny Moore, Jim Cronin; sisters-in-law, Juanita Krause, Mary Krause, Elsie Cronin, Kay Moore, and Marcella Moore.

The Krause family would like to sincerely thank Select Specialty Hospital of Newark and Shriver's Hospice for the care and comfort given to Paul.

Calling hours will be held on Monday March 23, 2026, from 2:00 – 4:00 & 6:00 – 8:00 PM at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home and Tuesday March 24, 2026, from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM.
