Paul Nielsen Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Catricala Funeral Home Inc. - Clifton Park on Dec. 1, 2025.
Paul Andrew Nielsen, 55, of Rexford, New York, passed away suddenly in his sleep at home in the early hours of November 27, 2025.

Paul was born in Yonkers, New York, a son of the late Harold and Lucille (Ricco) Nielsen. After his graduation from high school, he enlisted in the US Army and served in the National Guard. Following his honorable discharge, Paul obtained his Bachlor's Degree from University of Connecticut and a Master's Degree from Rensselaer Polytechnical Institute. He went to work for various companies including CherryRoad and later started 56 Consulting where he did Project Management and IT Analytics.

Most recently, he joined Mythics as a Senior Project Manager. In March 2020, he married the love of his life, Jodi (Bimka), they were each other's soulmates, finding one another later in life making their marriage stronger.

Paul was a very private person, and never liked to air his personal business, but was both loyal and loving. In the past few years, he had a very complicated health history necessitating a kidney transplant. Despite this, he never let these barriers interfere with his passions and commitments, doing everything he could for his family.

Paul was an avid New York sports fan and never missed an opportunity to watch the Rangers, Mets, or Giants, often having several screens playing at once. He also enjoyed traveling, a good cigar, and a glass of bourbon.

Paul leaves behind his wife: Jodi; two children: Hunter and Marnee Galpin; a brother: Harold (Jackie) Nielsen, a sister: Andrea Nielsen, his nephew: Greg (Sarah) Nielsen, with whom he shared a special bond, his great-nieces: Glory and Maggie and his two dogs: Mika and Ranger.

The family will be hosting a Celebration of life on December 6, 2025, at 2pm in their home. In the Spring of 2026, the family will honor Paul's military career with a ceremony at Saratoga National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Paul's memory to Transplant Journey at www.transplantjourney.org, or to Donate Life, at www.donatelife.net. As a tribute to Paul, please consider paying the gift of life forward and become an organ donor.
