Obituary Paul & Noreen Christensen
Paul & Noreen Christensen December 19, 2024/February 4, 2025
Paul was born April 30, 1931 on the family farm on Porterville Rd the youngest of four children. Robert, Margaret and Norma. The house is still standing, including the Barn that he fell off the roof and broke his arm. Situated close to the snake River where two mischievous boys (Robert & Paul) rode a horse down to the frozen river that they were forbidden to go to and Paul broke through the ice and almost froze to the saddle by the time they got home. That mischievousness would follow him throughout his life.
Noreen was born in Blackfoot Idaho, August 2, 1935 to Fay & Orpha Kelley. She grew up on South Schilling Ave across the street from J & H Grocery Store with her three siblings Richard, Gene and younger sister Coleen.
Upon returning home from serving overseas Paul met the girl of his dreams on a double date with his friend Corwin (Karen) Tuttle. They were married on February 25,1955. February 25th would have been their 70th anniversary. Together they had three children; Rebecca (Mark) Wallace, Angela Daley and Scott (Tawna) Christensen 5 grandchildren Trevor Daley, Nicholas Daley, Jennifer Daley, Logun Christensen, Kassidy Johnson and 11 great grandchildren.
Paul was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on July 2,1955 and loved to share Bible truths with whoever he met. He would zealously spend many hours every month witnessing, whether it was on the telephone or his favorite way knocking on doors and talking in person. He had the privilege of studying the Bible with many people and found great joy in doing so.
Noreen was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on December 20, 1945 and loved to share what she learned from the Bible with whoever she met. She had the privilege of studying the Bible with several individuals whom she formed close friendships with. She enjoyed working with Paul on several Kingdom Hall projects, even helping at a facility in Hawaii with the landscaping crew.
Paul loved fishing small creeks, especially Antelope Creek where he would disappear for hours and come back with his limit filled. He also enjoyed golf, having golfed in Alexandria Egypt, Lake Havasu, Twin Falls and of course Blackfoot. A highlight was a hole in one on the Blackfoot course.
Having grown up on a potato farm he learned how to work hard from an early age and this strong work ethic would shape his whole life. In 1955 he started working with the Cement/Plasterers Union and then the Bricklayers Union for several years. He began building homes including the one that he lived in for the past 61 years. In the winter months he often drove truck hauling grain to Utah or potatoes back east, whatever was needed to keep busy and provide for his family. He formed Christensen Construction and specialized in masonry and plastering, working on projects around the mountain west. He continued working, even laying cinder block into his mid eighties.
One highlight was using his construction skills to build and maintain Kingdom Halls in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Oregon, Nevada, New York and Hawaii. Doing so on a voluntary basis and paying his own expenses. He met many lifelong friends doing so.
Noreen worked very hard to care for the needs of Her family. Helping Paul to run the family construction business required budgeting the finances through several difficult times. She loved house plants and gardening in her yard, a love that she and her sister Coleen shared with their mom. Her backyard looked like a tropical paradise, which included beautiful ferns that were her pride and joy. At 50 she started doing aerobics for exercise and continued for many years, even teaching the class at times. She always kept a clean and tidy home. She worked hard to instill those skills and ethics in her children.
Paul and Noreen enjoyed traveling when they could, visiting Egypt, Israel, Germany and Hawaii. Many wintertime trips to Arizona, California and Nevada to get away from the snow for a couple of weeks.
The family would like to thank Dr. Lance Wehrle and His staff for their loving care and personal attention over the past several years. Also, we would like to thank Heritage Home Health and Hospice for their care and support especially Kristy and Cierra who were extremely kind, patient and loving.
There will be a memorial service for friends and family on Saturday April 26, 2025 @ 3pm at Hawker Funeral Home.
