On March 25, 2017, Manchester lost a remarkable man. This intelligent, elegant individual, was a highly principled, ethical man who was kind, artistically talented and beloved by his family and friends. Paul Pappas was born to Greek immigrant parents, Anastasios Papanagiotou and Vasiliki Theoharis in 1920, their only child. Although he lived in Goffstown for a large part of his life, he was graduated from Central High School in 1937. After CHS, he was employed by JJ Moreau and it was here where he met and married Jennie Korahakis. Shortly after their marriage, he was drafted to serve as a Master Sergeant in the Army during World War II and was stationed in New Jersey. When the war ended, he returned to New Hampshire to raise his family and complete his education. He was graduated from St. Anslem College in 1951. He spent the majority of his career with Metropolitan Life Ins. Co. With the company for over 25 years, Paul was in sales for a short time before being promoted to management. After retiring from the insurance industry in 1976, he opened Cyclops Products Inc., an electronic calculator and typewriter distribution firm which he ran until he was 85 years of age. He was an active member in the Greek community of Manchester, serving on the board of directors and co-chairing Glendi over the years. He was also a long time member of the NOA Club and the AHEPA Fraternal Organization. As a young man he participated in sports at the YMCA. He held Junior Championships in Billiards and Ping Pong. He also played basketball for the YMCA, where he was named All Star Guard. As the years progressed, he became a big sports enthusiast and never missed a televised game of any kind. His other passion was for painting and he produced some extraordinary water colors which were exhibited in shows and raffled at charity events. Paul's favorite place to socialize was the Puritan Backroom where many might say he held court for lunch almost every other day. Paul leaves behind his beloved companion, Pauline Thibault of Manchester; his son, Ernest Pappas of Hudson, FL; his daughter, Paula Borbotsina; and his son, James Pappas both of Manchester. He was predeceased by his son, Gregory Pappas in 1973 and his wife, Jennie in 2005. Paul's grandchildren include Marc Pappas of Tampa, FL, Jason Pappas of Dover, NH, Ryan McGinnis of Manchester, Rachel Rouillard of Dover, NH, Sadie Pappas of Charlestown, MA, Liza Pappas and Emily Pappas both of Somerville, MA, and Romina Borbotsina of Portsmouth, NH. Paul is also survived by his great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and his only niece, Pamela Yannakopoulos resides in Dracut, MA. ARRANGEMENTS: His Visitation will be held in the Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St., Manchester on Thursday, March 30 from 5:00 to 8:00 with the Trisagion Service at 7:00P.M. His Funeral Service will be celebrated in the St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 650 Hanover St., Manchester, on Friday, March 31, at 11:00A.M. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the 11:00A.M. Service. Committal to follow the Funeral Service at Pine Grove Cemetery, Brown Ave., Manchester. In lieu of flowers and Memorial donations may be made to the Gregory Pappas Scholarship fund at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 650 Hanover St., Manchester, NH 03104.

To the Pappas Family~ Mr. Pappas will forever be remembered as a kind gentle soul, whose smile would light up the room. I remember watching him and Jennie glide across the dance floor at the Cathedral Center and I would just marvel at them. He was certainly a pillar in our Community and will be so fondly remembered for his dedication to his faith, his love for the parishioners and his generosity to the community.
It is my prayer the God rests his gentle soul amongst the righteous. May God grant the family comfort during this difficult time. May his memory be eternal.

Pauline, and family --- My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. Paul was such a gentleman, so sweet and kind, he will be missed by everyone who came in touch with him. He was a pleasure to sit and chat with and holds a special place in my heart. The memories of the "Thursday Lunch Group" with all the boys, still bring a smile to me. We join all of you in your sorrow. I am sure that Larry, Billy, and Tom are anxiously awaiting their buddy, Paul. Hold tight to memories for comfort, lean on friends and family for strength and may Paul's memory be eternal.
