Paul Truman Polson, 96, of Burlington, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2025, at Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born March 2, 1929, he was the son of Ovid Floren Polson and Helen Anna Larkins Polson. On Nov. 28, 1953, in Keokuk, he married Glendal Ula Stigge. She preceded him in death on March 28, 2019.
Paul graduated from Burlington High School. He served in the United States Army and was a corporal in the Korean War.
Paul worked as a supervisor at Chittenden and Eastman for 39 years and was a member of Unity Lutheran Church and formerly of Faith Lutheran Church. He enjoyed working with wood, gardening, bicycling, working outside, and spending time with family.
He is survived by his four children, Sharilee "Shari" Polson of Des Moines; Susan Polson of Burlington; Shawna (Brian) Welty of Galesburg, Illinois; and Craig (Kelly) Polson of Gladstone, Illinois; brother, Jack (Linda) Polson of Gladstone, Illinois; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sisters, Doris Rowland, Lois Polson, and Mary Ann Lukens; and brothers, Gerald Polson and Richard Polson.
The funeral service for Paul will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, at Lunning Chapel, with a visitation held one hour before the service. Pastor Ralph Andersen will be officiating. Burial will take place at Prairie Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in his name at Unity Lutheran Church, Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House, and Prairie Grove Cemetery.
