Paul Purvis

Paul Ernest Purvis, 90, of New Windsor, MD passed away on October 25, 2025 at his home, surrounded by loved ones. Born on October 16, 1935 in Reidsville, NC, Paul was the son of the late John Claude and Rachel Mae (Lawrence) Purvis. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Jean Purvis; and sisters, Barbara Forsythe and Faye Smart. Paul was a loving husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his family, exploring local parks, and game nights (he was always the smartest in the room). He was an army veteran, serving as a radio operator at Fort Meade in Maryland. Paul was a founding employee, and spent his career as manager, of H.R. Simon Company, a producer of X-ray machine solutions, servicing hospitals throughout the region. In his spare time he passionately collected early rock and roll records, attended art shows with Evelyn, hunted for treasures at yard sales, and rode his motorcycle. He was a dedicated fan of the Baltimore Colts and then the Ravens. Paul had a deep love and respect for nature and all animals, and a special place in his heart for family pet El Toro. He cherished traveling with his wife and they saw many amazing places together over the years. Paul is survived by his children, Shirley Purvis and John Purvis, nephew Paul Smart and wife Pam, sister-in-law Harriet Shiffman and family, family friends Mary Deegan, Betty Morris and Alisa Piotrowski, and many beloved extended family members and friends. A private graveside service will be held for the family at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
