Paul W. Romano

Paul W. Romano, age 76 of Effort, PA entered into eternal life with his loving family at his side on October 10, 2025, at his home.
Paul was the loving husband of Stephanie A. (Uivary) Romano. They celebrated their 53rd Wedding Anniversary on September 2nd.
He was born in Hazleton, PA on February 23, 1949, son of the late Louis V. Romano Sr. and Martha (Weber) Romano.
He was an active member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Gilbert, PA where he was a choir member for over 20 years.
Paul received his bachelor's Degree in English from Kutztown University.
He also served our county in the Army National Guard.
Paul had worked as an English teacher at Stroudsburg High School in Stroudsburg, PA for 30 years until retiring in 2002, touching the minds and hearts of countless students. He was also the head coach of the basketball team.
Paul was a true outdoorsman. He loved fishing, boating, gardening, camping, cruises and vacationing in Ocean City, Maryland with his family. After retiring he enjoyed going to NASCAR races with his son, grandson and friends. He was also a member of the Elks Club in Stroudsburg, PA.
We have been blessed with the presence of Paul in our lives. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife: Stephanie, his children: Louis F. Romano and spouse Melanie of Orefield, PA and Jennifer S. Dunbar and spouse Matthew of Elverson, PA.
He was the loving PopPop to: Michael Norman Romano, Sophia Grace Romano, Sydney Belle Romano, Stephanie Clare Dunbar and Matthew Paul Dunbar.
Paul is also survived by a brother: Louis V. Romano Jr. of The Villages, FL and nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his siblings: Mary Lou Sosnowski, and Frank Romano.
Paul was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert, PA.
Family and friends are welcome to offer condolences on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 12:00 PM until time of Mass at the church.
He will be laid to rest at Our Lady of Hungary Cemetery in Northampton, PA at a later date.
