Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wallace & Wallace Inc Funeral Chapels & Crematory - Rainelle on May 31, 2025.
Paul Mark Rudd, 86, of
Rainelle, WV, went Home to be with the Lord on May 30, 2025.
Born on November 28, 1938, he was the son of the late Clifford Vernon and Delores Virginia Winnings Rudd.
Paul is survived by the love of his life, Hattie Madeline, with whom he married on September 15, 1961, and shared 64 wonderful years. Together they raised their children: Kenneth, James, and Debra. He was a proud grandfather to Jason (Ashley), Austin, Riley, Chase, and Trent. The family is also grateful for the presence of Timothy Ketterman who held a special place in Paul's life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: James Ray Rudd, Carolyn Rose Rudd, Evelyn Springs, Janice Ewers, Doris Young, Leah Radcliffe, Clifford Samuel Rudd, Roy David Rudd, Martha Stevens, and Becky Schaffer.
He is also survived by his siblings: Vernon (Geri) Rudd, Veronica (Bruce) Arnold, Johnny (Lucinda) Rudd, Marty (Gail) Rudd, Mike (Robin) Rudd, and Mary Rudd Cogar; and by his brothers-in-law: Bob Ewers, Chuck Stevens, Bill Schaffer and Conrad (Sue) Boggs. He will be missed by his best furry friend, Bentley.
Paul was a coal miner who spent his life working hard to provide for his family, both on the job and at home. He was also an avid outdoorsman, sportsman, and gardener, growing the most beautiful gardens and sharing the fruits of his labor with friends, family, and neighbors. He loved his children deeply and wanted nothing more than for them to accept Jesus Christ. He worked hard so his family could experience things he never had the chance to see, do, or have. His heart was always in the right place, and he always put family first.
Paul was a proud member of Sewell Valley Baptist Church where he served as an Usher for many years. He was also a 50-year member of the Masonic Midland Trail Lodge #166.
When he arrived in heaven, without a doubt he heard, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."
A celebration to honor Paul's life will be held Monday, June 2, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Sewell Valley Baptist church in
Rainelle, West Virginia and friends may visit beginning at 12:00 pm. Pastor Fred Fryar and Pastor Brian Copeland are officiating. A private burial will follow at Wallace Memorial Cemetery in Clintonville, WV.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Rainelle Christian Academy (RCA), where Paul and Hattie devoted their time in the early beginnings of RCA by helping with the building construction, caretaker of the soccer field, and volunteering with school lunches, sports concession stands, field trips and anything the children needed to receive a Christian education and learn about Jesus. Special thanks to the staff at Peyton Hospice House.
