Paul H. Ruelle, Jr., 87, of the Savannah Lakes Community in McCormick, SC, beloved husband of Barbara Ruelle (Fialkowski) passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025 at the Lakelands Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Abbeville, SC surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Malden, MA, he was the son of the late Mary (Raso) and Paul Ruelle Sr. Paul was raised in Peabody, MA where he graduated from Peabody High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Salem Teachers College in 1959, followed by a Master's degree in Education from Salem State College in 1962. After teaching in Peabody and Marblehead schools he was employed by Arkwright-Interlaken for 15 years. In 1981, he moved with his family to Stone Mountain, GA where he owned an audiovisual business. After retirement, he and his wife moved to the Savannah Lakes Village in McCormick, SC.
Paul and his wife loved to travel, visiting several countries in Europe and many different states. He was deeply devoted to his family, spending time on family camping trips, vacations traveling the east coast, canoeing the local rivers, and day hikes in the White Mountains of NH. He taught his children a love of the great outdoors. In later years, family trips to Kiawah, SC and visits from his children and grandchildren were his great joy.
He took pleasure in the company of many good friends. He enjoyed playing tennis, ping-pong, card games of Euchre, Canasta, and Tripoli, Cribbage, and he loved working crossword puzzles and Sudoku games.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Donald Ruelle.
Surviving Paul in addition to his devoted wife Barbara with whom he shared 63 years of marriage, are his children, Lisa Ann (Mark), Marianne (Scott), and Christopher; six grandchildren, Lauren, Camden, Matthew, Myles, Benjamin, and Chase; one great grandson, Oliver Paul; brother David Ruelle, twin brother of Donald; and many dear extended friends.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be 11:00AM, Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church with Rev. Father Jacob Joseph officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Good Shepherd Catholic Church Columbarium. A reception will follow the inurnment in the Parish Life Center. Friends and relatives are warmly invited to attend.
