I grew up with Paul in West Roxbury and went to grammar and high school with him. I renewed my friendship with Paul about 4 years ago and we would meet on a quarterly basis for lunch to catch up on each other's lives. I only recently found out about his death and want to put down my thoughts about this very good man. Professionally Paul was very successful as a political consultant and he worked on many high profile races and with nationally known candidates. He was passionate about his political beliefs and performed his work with integrity in a field not particularly known for its ethics. Paul faced the difficult challenge of being diabetic and was visited with many of the most challenging side effects of this destructive disease that made life more challenging for him than others face. In my presence, he never once complained and he would discuss these incredible challenges matter-of-factly without a hint of self pity or anger and he never let them deter him. He embodied the expression that when given lemons, make lemonade. He was an inspiration to me and a good friend and this world is the worse for his absence. May you rest your head in the bosom of Abraham my friend. Steve Dowd
