Paul D. Siegfried, 87, passed away on November 17, 2025. Paul ("Siggy") was born on June 14, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois, to Lorraine (nee Mathia) and Paul Siegfried. Paul grew up in Chicago's Humboldt Park neighborhood before proudly serving as a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army, jumping out of the first airplane he ever boarded.

Paul dedicated over three decades to the Chicago Police Department, where he earned countless prestigious awards for his commitment and sacrifice, including saving over 20 people from a burning building. The undercover unit in which he served was so prolific, it was honored in its own episode of ABC's, "Eyewitness Chicago." Paul was a lifelong Bears' fan, and over the years, was able to meet almost every member of his beloved 1985 Bears' Championship Team.

Paul was married for over 62 years to his one true love, his "Dutchess," Marilyn, with whom he had two children, Julie (Michael) Risenhoover, and Jeff (Jill) Siegfried. He was the happiest and proudest Grandpa to Zachary (Rebecca Galer) Siegfried and Lauren (Grant Bailey) Siegfried. Beloved brother of the late Norma (Christopher) Priesmeyer, late Norman "Sonny" (Christel) Siegfried, late Doris (John) O'Leary, late Dorothy "Toots" (Carl) Ruzecki, late Vivian (Donald) Ruzecki, and late Sharon (Anthony) Yaccino.

Paul will be remembered for his love of, and commitment to, his family and friends. He enjoyed listening to Frank Sinatra, laughing loudly at Don Rickles, Foster Brooks, Rodney Dangerfield, and anything involving the accidental physical pain of others. One of his greatest passions was watching, and "coaching" the Bears on T.V. every week, a labor of love he carried out until his last day. A generous part of Paul's heart belonged to his beloved Turtle-Flambeau Flowage. Paul and Marilyn created a second home on these waters of the Northwoods, and it became a sanctuary of relaxation, love, and fun for all who visited, He went Up North as a child with his father and brother, then as a Dad with his wife and kids (and the JPJ Hookers) and later with his grandchildren. Many in the Mercer Community became a second family to all family and friends of the Siegfrieds.

In honor of Paul's remarkable life, a visitation will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm followed by a service at 2:00 pm at Modell Funeral Home, 7710 S. Cass Ave, Darien. A private interment will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Cemetery.
