It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Paul Edward Smith, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Paul peacefully passed away on November 08, 2024, surrounded by his family, at the age of 58.
Born on November 03, 1966, in Bluefield, Virginia, Paul was the son of the late Rev. Walker C. Smith Jr., and the late Virginia (Mitchem) Smith.
Paul grew up with a passion for the outdoors and a deep love for his country. After high school, Paul went on to serve his country in the United States Army during the Gulf War, where he earned commendations for his dedication and courage.
After his service, Paul returned home and began a long career of servicing the community, beginning with working as a commercial driver, and moving to an over 20 year career in armed security.
Outside of work, Paul was an avid outdoorsman who loved kayaking, shooting, camping, and golfing with his family. He spent countless weekends passing his love for the outdoors on to his children.
In addition to his dad, and mom he was preceded in death by his brother Darryl Edwin (Big D) Smith Sr.; his Sister Sharon Delaine Smith and his best friend Charlie Pritt.
Paul is survived by his son, Edward Smith, wife Rebecca Smith and their 3 children, Wyatt Kohen Smith, Rayden Walker Smith, Kali Brielle Miller. His Daughter Hollie (Smith) Fields, her husband James Fields and their 3 children Annabella Fields, Raylan Fields, and Ryker Fields. His two sisters; Rhonda (Smith) Beatty and husband Mike Beatty and Tammy (Smith) Haywood and husband David Haywood. And countless nieces, nephews, and other loving family members.
Paul’s family invites you to celebrate his life at a memorial service on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. for visitation and 2:00 p.m. for the service at Mott-Mckamey Funeral Home, at 1017 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge, TN 37830.
Mott-McKamey Funeral Home and Cremations is assisting the Smith family.
