DUE TO A POWER OUTAGE CAUSED BY THE RECENT STORM, VISITATION AND FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD IN THE SIBILLE FUNERAL HOME OF OPELOUSAS.

Grand Coteau- Funeral Service will be held for John Paul Smith on Friday, May 17, 2024  at 10:00 a.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Grand Coteau. Pastor Bert Langley will officiate the service in the funeral home chapel.

John Paul Smith, a beloved Meat Market Manager in the Grocery Store industry, passed away on May 12, 2024 at Calcutta House. Born on March 3, 1948, in Cisco, Texas, John was described as a loving and caring person who touched the lives of many.

In his professional life, Paul dedicated himself to managing the meat market section of the grocery store with diligence and passion. His commitment to providing quality service and products made him a respected figure among colleagues and customers alike.

Beyond his career, Paul had a wide range of hobbies and interests that brought him immense joy. He had a deep love for fishing and cherished family time above all else. Whether it was embarking on trips with his children and other family members or showcasing his talent as an excellent wood craftsman by creating meaningful pieces for loved ones, Paul's presence was always accompanied by warmth and creativity. In his younger days, he found excitement in motorcycles and riding, while in retirement, he took pleasure in preparing meals alongside his beloved wife.

 Paul  is survived by his loving wife, Vicki Beebe Smith of Sunset; children, Lori Smith of Azle Texas, Chris Smith (Sabrina) of Grapevine Texas, Matthew Smith (Maree) of Bedford Texas; Rebbekah Watson (Charles) of San Antonio; brother David Smith of Baton Rouge; sisters Lanita Smith of Fayetteville Arkansas, Lanell Tadlock of Lubbock Texas; grandchildren Stephen Lopez, Victoria Flores, Michelle Lopez, Christina Bussen, Ashley Smith, Gibson Smith, Andrew Carson, Aiden Waclawczyk, Isaac Watson; great-grandchildren Layla Flores, August Flores, Eden Flores, Murdock Bussen, Dax Scarberry.

He was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Janie Smith; brothers Ronald (Sonny) Smith, Wayne Smith,
Rodger Smith, Larry Smith; sister Nelda Myrick.

Paul's kind spirit and generous nature will be dearly missed by all who knew him. May his legacy of love and compassion continue to inspire those whose lives he has touched.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Friday, May 17, 2024 at 8:00 a.m. till time of service in the funeral home chapel.
