Paul Woodbury “Squeak” Stanwood, age 86, of Salisbury, MA, went to be with the Lord on November 16, 2025, at High Pointe House in Haverhill, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his dearest wife of fifty nine years, Harriett Ann (Wing) Stanwood.
Born in Newburyport, MA on April 29, 1939, he was the son of the late Eldred N. Stanwood and the late Edith M. (Teague) Stanwood and was a graduate of Newburyport High School.
Squeak joined the United States Army after graduation in 1958, and served until 1961. He joined the Army Reserves and retired in 1988 with the rank of Sergeant First Class. He worked for the US Department of Defense, retiring after many years with a job he truly loved. He was a longtime member of St. Marks Lodge, A.F. & A.M. of Newburyport.
Squeak loved nothing more than spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Papa never missed a game or recital, freezing rink or pouring rain be damned, they always knew Papa was going to be there to cheer them on. He gave the best hugs, told the worst jokes, and always knew when they needed his words of wisdom, or just needed to be with him. They were blessed with his smile and laughter every time they saw him, knowing he loved them more than anything, and that is something they will always carry with them in their hearts and memories.
His life’s legacy will continue to be treasured and carried on by his two daughters who could not have asked for a better father, Andrea Beth Lattime and husband Scott of Salisbury, MA and Amy Gwendolyn Woundy and husband Charlie of Newburyport; three grandchildren, Willem Beaton of Salisbury, and Paul Woundy and Maya Woundy both of Newburyport, and in addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by a daughter, Ashley Megan Stanwood and seven brothers, Leonard Stanwood, Frank Stanwood, Francis Stanwood, Robert Stanwood, Ronald Stanwood, Alfred Stanwood and Eldred N. Stanwood, Jr.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2025 from 3 P.M. to 6 P.M. at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025 at 10:30 AM at the All Saints Anglican Church, 69 Friend Street, Amesbury, MA 01913, followed by Graveside Services at Belleville Cemetery, Newburyport. Donations in memory of Paul W. Stanwood can be made to High Pointe Hospice House, 360 North Avenue, Haverhill, MA 01830.
